To transform this tight backyard, we replaced an old wooden retaining wall with a durable Valley Stone block system, built on a solid compacted base with built-in drainage. We then replaced a patch of old gravel with a spacious paver patio—creating the perfect spot for a barbecue or patio table—and framed the cedar hedge with a new hydrangea garden bed.

Originally a gravel patch with a few uneven blocks, this tight area needed a complete overhaul. We excavated the old ground and brought in fresh aggregate for a compacted 4-inch base. Next, we screeded a 1-inch sand setting bed with a 2% grade for optimal drainage, before laying the custom paver pattern and securing the joints with polymeric sand for a clean, lasting finish.
